Ten from The M to Them: Our Milestones Run-Through

Since its beginning, The M Story has been dedicated to transforming lives in Guatemala. Over the years, we've reached numerous milestones, each one marking a step towards creating sustainable change. Let’s look at our journey and the difference we’ve made together.

1. Providing Relief During the Pandemic

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we quickly mobilized resources to address the urgent needs of vulnerable families in Guatemala. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to distribute essential food packages, ensuring that families had access to basic nourishment during this challenging period. This effort was a lifeline for many, offering not only food but also hope in a time of uncertainty.

2. Opening The M Story Online Shop

Our Online Shop has become a vital part of our fundraising strategy. By offering unique, handmade products like handcrafted soap from Urnäsch (CH) and colorful necessaires handmade by artisans in Guatemala, we raised funds for our community projects in Guatemala while supporting local these local artisans. Each purchase made a difference, directly contributing to the well-being of families in Guatemala.

3. Delivering School Supplies and Raising Awareness

In the region of Suchitepéquez, we delivered school supplies and food packages to children in need. But we didn’t stop there. We engaged directly with mothers, educating them about the importance of school attendance for their children. This outreach has led to an increase in school enrollment and a greater commitment from families to prioritize education. Currently, over 80 children were able to start going to school thanks to our program.

4. Bringing Clean Water to Communities

Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, yet many families in Guatemala still lack it. Through our project in Suchitepéquez, we installed water filters in households, providing them with safe drinking water. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the risk of waterborne diseases, improving the health and quality of life for countless families.

5. Establishing a Daycare Center

One of our proudest achievements is the opening of a daycare center in Suchitepéquez. This safe and nurturing environment allows children to learn and grow while their parents work. It has become a cornerstone of the community, offering early childhood education and a place where kids can thrive.

6. Launching the Guardian Angel Program

Our Guardian Angel Program was created to offer long-term support to children in Guatemala and provide them with the opportunity to attend school. Through sponsorships, donors can provide essential resources such as school supplies, uniforms, and even meals, enabling the sponsored children to get an education. We are forever grateful to all our Guardian Angels. If you want to know more about this subject, click here.

7. Bringing Holiday Joy: Samichlaus Visits Guatemala

In collaboration with volunteers and local partners, we organized a special visit from "Samichlaus" (Santa Claus) to Suchitepéquez. The children received gifts and goodies, a gesture that brought immense joy and created cherished holiday memories for the little ones.

8. Empowering Mothers and Engaging Fathers

In a society influenced by Machismo Culture, our projects took a significant step by involving not just the mothers but also the fathers in community activities. For the first time, men from Suchitepéquez actively participated in building a common room for the children at the daycare center. This moment was a breakthrough, fostering a spirit of collaboration and breaking down traditional gender roles.

9. Offering Volunteer Opportunities through Explorengo

We started Explorengo to offer volunteer opportunities for those who want to contribute their time and skills directly. Various Volunteers have already travelled to Guatemala and supported us in a wide range of projects. From teaching and community outreach to construction and renovation efforts, they all brought fresh energy and new perspectives to our initiatives.

10. Renovating the Daycare: Solar Energy and New Facilities

To further enhance the daycare center, we undertook a comprehensive renovation project. We introduced solar energy to reduce electricity costs and ensure a sustainable power source. Additionally, we equipped the center with new school supplies and improved facilities, creating a more conducive learning environment for the children.
